Miginath's dreams
We all know what happens after this. In 720TR Miginath and Erila are still not married, but still a couple. Maldan Harabor is Sheriff of Meselyne, Koris Harabor is Marshal of the Guard, Tulath Kaphin is Sheriff of Vemion and Erila is the Lord Privy Seal of Kaldor.
In the spring of 722TR there is an attempt on the Kings life. During a stay in the castle of Tashal, a black clad man manages to climb the wall, and enter the kings room through an open window in the night. Fortunately, the king is not asleep, so he hears a sound, and calls for his guards. The assassin attacks, and injures the king in his left arm before two guards burst into the bedroom. The first guard is killed by the assassin, but since the loyal servant had thrown himself at the intruder with great force, the assassin's sword is pulled from his hand as his victim falls to the floor. The second guard delivers a mortal blow.
This incident affects the king's state of mind in a very strong way. He gets almost paranoid, and trusts almost no one. There is no certain evidence as to who is behind the attempt on his life, but as time passes, the king feels more and more convinced that his eldest son, Maldan Harabor, was behind it. King Miginath never gets any kind of proof to support that Maldan would have hired a killer, but in various ways, he gathers enough witnesses who can testify of how the son was attempting to raise his own power in the kingdom, and how he was lacking loyalty and respect for the king --- saying several times that he was sure that his father would soon be dead, and that his head had begun to rot already...
Maldan is accused of treason, and sentenced to be hanged by his neck 'til he dies. He manages to escape his prison, and flees the country. Also Koris gets affected by his father wrath, and is removed from his position as Marshal of the Guard. Also he leaves Kaldor.
